This NEW high tech STEAM program is for the tech savvy, creative kid who strives to make their wildest inventions tangible! With the hands-on instruction and guidance of professional 3D designer, Michael Vickery of STEAMfruit, LLC, students will gain fluency using computer aided design (CAD) software that become programable instructions to print prototypes using 3D printers. This program utilizes the Engineering Design Process that leads students through the process of analyzing, editing and refining 3D models. Students will be challenged to solve real-life problems using the latest creative technology and envision future applications for their in-demand creative skills. Students will design, test, refine and print multiple prototypes to showcase at our end on quarter Art Show and then bring home to keep. *Space for this program is limited to 8 students so that each student receives personalized instruction and exclusive access to printers. *Students must bring their own laptop, Mac or PC. A free CAD program will be downloaded so that students can utilize design processing in class and at home. Schedule: Mondays, 5:30-7:30 February 3 - March 17 (6 two hour sessions) No lessons on 2/17: school vacation week. $390 About Michael Vickery and STEAMfruit, LLC: STEAMfruit has established and quickly secured a place in the nascent digital manufacturing landscape. We minimize both of those barriers by providing consulting, design, and rapid prototyping services so that you can have a proof-of-concept in your hands within days vs. weeks, months, or even years.
